Terms of Service
Effective August 1, 2026
Operator: Wheelock Systems LLC ("we," "us," "our"), operating the website startingright.guide (the "Site") and the Starting Right YouTube channel and related content (together, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Starting Right is
Starting Right publishes free educational content about skilled-trades careers and practical life skills, aimed primarily at young people deciding what to do after high school. The Service currently includes videos, articles, and an interactive "which trade fits me" quiz that runs in your browser. We may add other formats, such as a companion podcast.
2. Educational content only — not professional advice
The Service is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not:
- career, vocational, or guidance-counseling advice tailored to your situation;
- legal, financial, tax, or investment advice;
- an offer of employment, apprenticeship, or admission to any program.
Pay ranges, job-outlook figures, and licensing requirements we present are general and regional, change over time, and may not reflect your specific location or circumstances. Where we show data, we label it with the date it was last verified; always confirm current details with official sources (e.g. the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, your state licensing board, and the specific school or employer) and with a qualified advisor before making decisions. You are responsible for decisions you make based on the Service.
The quiz is a conversation starter, not an assessment. It reflects our editorial judgment about what different trades demand and reward. It does not measure your aptitude, and it cannot know your circumstances. Treat its results as a shortlist worth investigating, not an answer.
3. Eligibility and audience
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (see the Privacy Policy). Some features (for example, any optional form that sends your information to a partner organization) are restricted to users 18 and older. If you are under 18, do not submit such forms; use the informational links instead.
4. Third-party links, partners, and affiliate relationships
The Service links to third-party websites and organizations (for example, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, tool/gear retailers, and data sources). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, services, or privacy practices. Following a link is at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms.
Some links may be affiliate or sponsored links, meaning we may earn a commission or fee if you take an action after clicking. We disclose these relationships as required by law (see our disclosures in the video description and on the relevant page). Our editorial recommendations and any quiz results are not ordered by payment — no organization can buy a position in a quiz result or a training-program listing.
5. Intellectual property
The Service's original content — scripts, videos, graphics, and site design — is owned by Wheelock Systems LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view and share links to the content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission, except as permitted by law (e.g. fair use) or by the platform's own features (e.g. YouTube's share/embed tools).
Third-party stock footage, images, and music in our videos are used under their respective licenses and remain the property of their owners. Government data we present (for example, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage and outlook figures) is public information; our presentation of it is ours.
6. AI-assisted production
Some of our content is produced with the help of AI tools (for example, AI-generated or AI-assisted narration and imagery). Content is reviewed by a human before publication for accuracy and appropriateness, and AI-assisted material is disclosed as required by the platform and by us.
7. User conduct and comments
If you comment or otherwise interact where permitted, you agree not to post unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, infringing, or spam content. Comments may be held for review and we may remove content or restrict participation at our discretion. You are responsible for anything you submit.
8. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information is current.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wheelock Systems LLC and its owners and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or your reliance on any information in it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms at any time. Material changes take effect when the updated Terms are posted with a new effective date. Your continued use after changes means you accept them.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
