Starting Right

Privacy Policy

Effective August 1, 2026

Operator: Wheelock Systems LLC, operating startingright.guide (the "Site").

We built Starting Right to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what that means in practice. It describes how the Site actually works today; if we add features that change it, we will update this policy and its effective date.

This is checkable, and you should check it. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and take the quiz. Every request goes to startingright.guide and nothing else. If that ever stops being true, it is a bug in the Site, not a policy we quietly loosened.

1. Information we do NOT collect

A consequence worth stating plainly: because we measure nothing, we cannot see which results people get or which answers they give. That is deliberate, and it is also why we ask real people to review the quiz instead of learning from your data.

2. Information collected automatically

The Site is a set of static files. Like any web host, the server that delivers those files may process limited technical data needed to serve pages securely and keep them online — such as your IP address, the page requested, and basic request/log information. We do not combine that with anything else, use it to build a profile, or sell it.

We do not currently run analytics of any kind. If we ever add them, we will choose a privacy-preserving, cookie-free option that does not identify individuals, and we will update this policy first.

3. YouTube and other third parties

The Site links out to our YouTube channel and to third-party organizations (trade schools, apprenticeship programs, licensing boards). It does not currently embed any video or other third-party content, so simply visiting our pages sends nothing to Google or anyone else. When you follow a link to YouTube or any other site, that company's own privacy policy applies to what happens there.

If we later embed videos, we will use YouTube's privacy-enhanced ("no-cookie") mode, which is designed not to set tracking cookies unless you actually play a video.

4. If you contact us or use an optional partner form

5. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Starting Right YouTube channel is set "Not Made for Kids." If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. Because we collect so little, there is normally nothing to share. We may disclose limited information only where required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or to the service providers that host the Site (bound to protect it). If our business is ever transferred, any information would remain subject to this policy.

7. Your choices and rights

You can use the Site and the quiz without giving us any personal information. Depending on where you live (for example, under U.S. state privacy laws), you may have rights to access or delete personal information a business holds about you — since we generally hold none, such requests will usually confirm exactly that. To make a request or ask a question, contact [email protected].

8. Data security and retention

We keep the personal-data footprint minimal by design, which is the strongest protection we can offer: data we never collect cannot be breached, subpoenaed, or sold. Information you voluntarily send us (e.g. a support email) is kept only as long as needed to handle your request. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves. Material changes take effect when posted with a new effective date.
